Our Financial Counseling/Medicaid Eligibility Service manages all accounts that can be reimbursed through federal /state medical assistance programs to individuals or families. Through this department the initial point of contact is made with patients. Due to the specialized nature of this department, we are able to dedicate the resources necessary to identify and qualify patients for government assistance who might normally be overlooked by a hospital's business office.
Our service is three dimensional:
The On-site Financial Counselors, stationed at our contracted hospital sites, initiate eligibility screenings via bedsides or at point of service via walk-in interview. It is the most crucial time to determine potential eligibility, to establish trust, and gain cooperation of patients.
The In-house Eligibility Coordinators, stationed at our main offices, are comprehensively trained financial counselors who specialize in making final determinations of eligibility for government assistance programs. They are responsible for obtaining adequate information and acceptable documentation from applicants to complete the full application process. Their responsibilities also include establishing and maintaining efficient communication with representatives from the local and state agencies.
The Field Services Representatives, independently stationed regionally around our clients’ locations, visit patients in their home. When appropriate, an Eligibility Coordinator will request a field visit to secure documentation. These visits are requested as scheduled or non-scheduled appointments for an interview. It is our experience that the establishment of face-to-face contact and accessibility are critical elements in gaining patients trust and cooperation. Our field service staff provides a distinct advantage in completing applications and securing government assistance for eligible patients. |
